Lucifer
Lucifer is a BIG cat. He was big at 16 lbs, but that was before I had to change them over to Science Diet Sensitive Skin (for Maggot). You used to look at him and marvel at his long legs, but his belly has eaten up that space. He is now ludicrously enormous, a black cat with golden eyes. I always wanted a black cat. And boy, did I get one! He is so black that it can be hard to get a good picture of him!
It was 1996, I think, and I had been hankering for another cat. It had been 4 years since we brought in Kitten (my ex's cat, who never did like me) and I was ready to add to the family. My ex and I went to the Richardson pound, and we looked at all of the cats. There was this one large-framed, long-legged, skinny black cat who was extremely affectionate, and something about him called to me. I asked the people why he was at the pound, and it turned out that his owner's roommate was allergic to cats, and Lucifer was so affectionate that he could not leave the roommate alone. So the motherfucking bastard took him to the pound.
That decided it -- he was coming home with me. I brought him home and he bounded into the house exuding vibes of "love me love me love me!" And it worked! He became an instant part of the family. And he waited for over two weeks to start nursing on my armpit.
Yes, I said nursing on my armpit. He does it through clothing -- he does have his standards, as queer as they are. He is never happier than when he is sprawled across my chest sucking my armpit. Sometimes he even falls asleep. He will occaisionally be attracted to another woman's armpits (Trip had a major issue with this), but it generally takes me being out of town for an extended period for him to actively start going after another woman. If he is despondent, he'll go after men. Lucifer tends to perch on my headboard and watch the North - I think he's hoping to see Bifrost. Lately, he's taken to perching on the scratching post and staring at the North wall intently, whapping his tail back and forth, which has caused his elevation to godhood. Lucifer knows his name, he comes when he is called, and is full of boundless affection. He is a bright light in my home. |
