Smidge

June 14, 2004
Smidge is a 7 week old male tuxedo cat, and he needs a loving home with a feline brother or sister who will play with him, and humans who will dote on his every breath. And while at the moment he's only as big as a smidgeon, we're pretty sure he's going to be a big boy.

It is imperative that he is not an only cat -- he is fearless, and constantly tries to engage my cats in play. (They want nothing whatsoever to do with this idea.) He would be lonely, bored, and neurotic as an only cat -- siblings are a must.

He is adventurous, playful, and incredibly loving. He soaks up attention -- you can rub his tummy forever. He enjoys taking naps with me, especially when he's sleeping on my throat. He has a strong purr and a tiny voice.

Special Needs
Smidge is slightly anemic, and Dr Cindy wants him on flea control medication for the foreseeable future. That means spending $45 every three months. And he will need to be fixed when he's old enough.

Friday, June 4, 2004: rescue!
I was pouring myself a drink when the doorbell rang on Friday night. I answered the door to find one of the local kids holding a tiny, scraggly tuxedo kitten. He was filthy, he had more gunk in his ears than his ears should be able to hold, and he was covered with fleas.

I gave him two flea baths, dried him off, offered him food and water, and set up an infirmary in the bathroom. Look how pitiful he was!

Saturday morning, I took him to Dr Cindy to be tested. He got a clean bill of health -- no diseases. He got Revolution flea treatment, stuff for his ears, and liquid vitamins.

Harley came over on Sunday to meet him, and he fell asleep on her while we were talking.

He started perking up on Sunday, and he has steadily become more adventurous and playful, while continuing to be a love sponge. He is going to be a fantastic cat.

I was one of the first 50!
