New pictures! Check out pics 04! Nathan has gone home, but his 4 brothers and sisters still need homes. I've added new information about the kittens further down on this page. (Also, 2 new pics of the Tiger Parents!)

I adore these cats. This litter of 5 was brought to me by Mama Tiger, whose previous litter spent a good chunk of their childhood living in my dryer vent. I managed to catch this litter when she first brought them, at 5 weeks, and they've been with me for 3 weeks now. It doesn't matter how bad my day is, watching these 5 rampage during playtime always makes me laugh. They are completely unafraid of my cats, much to my cats' chagrin.
It's an interesting litter -- 2 siamese, 2 black, 1 stripybutt. 2 girls (1 siamese, 1 black) and 3 boys. When they come out to play, it's a 5-way game of Calvinball. Sometimes the teams are by gender, sometimes by type, and sometimes there are no teams at all. All of them are completely comfortable with my cats, and try to play with them. (My cats resist.)

the girls
The girls are slightly smaller than the boys, slightly less rambunctious, and not as fast to socialize with people.
Captain O'Malley, the black girl, spends about half her day napping alone in a quiet corner, and the other half snuggled up to Stripybutt and Sparrow. She's much mellower -- initially, she would hiss and spit when picked up, and would gradually relax and allow herself to be held. Now I can pick her up or plop her into my lap and she's happy. She and Captain Sparrow are still glossy black except in sunlight (or some flash settings) -- then you can see cloudy stripes in their fur. They remain a near-perfect matched set; slender, stripy in sunlight, with long, thin tails they coil and uncoil.
Serenity, the lynx-point Siamese, is this litter's problem child. She's affectionate with her siblings, and curious and friendly with my adult cats. But with people, she's wary, and often hostile. Some of my friends have held her, but she still resists me picking her up. I think the real problem is that she's one of those who never forgets the initial trauma of capture and the person who did it.
She needs an experienced cat owner, someone who is willing to be patient, and quite possibly tolerate having a cat hide under their bed. The Siamese girl in the last litter was much the same (although not as hostile). She didn't become truly affectionate until the last 3 days she was with me. I think it's going to take time and patience with this one -- but she's affectionate with other cats, she comes from fantastic stock, and she's going to be exceptionally beautiful.

the boys
The boys are so much fun! They are quick to purr when humans give them love, but they want to play first, cuddle later. And it takes a lot of play to tire them out -- they are a full evening's entertainment.
Dread Pirate Stripybutt, is going to be an amazing cat. His older brothers Xander and Alastor are enormous, intelligent yet goofy, and bursting with personality, and he is going to be just like them. He is smart, athletic, agile, affectionate, and a complete goober. (See pics 03 and pics 04 -- the cat is a complete goober.) He loves to play -- with his siblings, with a toy, he tries to play with my cats. He likes to set challenges for himself -- a new way to scale the chair, a better angle to bounce off the wall and land in the basket. And when he's done playing, he'll sleep in your lap for as long as you let him. He's a darling, funny boy and he needs a wonderful home.
Captain Sparrow, the black boy, is very much a middle child -- he romps with the boys, he romps with the girls, he sleeps with his brothers, he sleeps with his sister, Captain O'Malley. He's a sleek, glossy, amber-eyed lapcat.
Nathan, the seal-point Siamese, is stocky, rough-furred, and disablingly adorable. (Update: Nathan has gone to a happy home with several cats for him to cuddle.) I've never met such a mellow meezer in my life. He was the first to show affection, the first to purr. He starts purring the second I pick him up, and will purr himself to sleep if he's tired enough. He is going to be a loving, wonderful cat. He and Stripybutt used to end most playtimes by falling asleep together on the couch (top picture). Whoever wakes up first jumps up and down on his brother's head until he wakes up -- it was insanely cute.

if you would like to meet the tiger clan
Email me at lynxfeather at yahoo dot com and we'll set up a time! I live in Richardson (north of Dallas, south of Plano). I'm available for kitten visits after 7 on weeknights and after 1pm on weekends.
This litter has not been to the vet, but they come from healthy parents and have many healthy siblings. I've known Tiger and Mama Tiger for several years, and have met and helped place several of their children (including my own Sebastian).
And as always, we do not expect an immediate decision. If you want to come and meet the kittens and go home and think about it, that's fine. We want everyone to have a happy ending.
I can't update this site from work, so I only manage to update a couple times a week. If you need more cuteness to tide you over, visit the Village Witches Rescue Livejournal. I post additional pictures there and update it more frequently.
We ask a $25 donation to help cover expenses. We are just a small group of friends who do as much as we can, and sometimes it is overwhelming. In addition to kitten rescue and fostering, we feed and provide shelter for the local strays, and we are working to spay/neuter and release the area strays.

I was one of the first 50!
