tiger clan -- serenity

Serenity is a 29 week old lynx point Siamese. She and her siblings Sparrow and Swann have lived with me since her mother brought them to my door in May. (Her other siblings, Nathan and Dread Pirate Stripybutt, have been adopted.)

Serenity is this litter's problem child. She is affectionate with her siblings, and friendly with my adult cats, but she cannot be having with people. She started off wary and hostile, and has never gotten better. She doesn't want anything to do with me, which makes me wonder if she's one of those who never forgets the intiial trauma of capture and the person who did it.

She spends most of her time in the second bedroom with her siblings. She eats with everyone, and usually wanders downstairs in the evening to see what's happening. She gets along with my cats, but only rarely lets me touch her. And this is where things get tricky.

She very well may calm down after she's spayed, and I think she will mellow in time, but I don't want to give anyone a false impression. If you were a fan of Firefly, you may have already guessed that she's River in a cat suit. I haven't tried to pick her up in a while, much less stuff her into a crate, but I'm pretty sure that when I do, I'm going to end up bloody. She seems to be a happy cat, as long as I leave her alone. She'll sometimes let me pet her when I put down the gooshyfood, but I don't look forward to catching her. I think she has potential, but anything that requires catching her is going to be a problem for a long time. And by problem, I mean that if I need to have her in a carrier on Friday, I'm going to start trying to catch her Thursday morning, and I'll have the wee crate set up for her in the meantime. Because you're not necessarily going to catch her the first try.

She needs an experienced cat owner; someone who is willing to be patient, and quite possibly tolerate having a cat hide under their bed. It's going to take time and patience with this one -- but she's affectionate with other cats, she comes from fantastic stock, and she's going to be exceptionally beautiful. I think she can have a happy life, it just can't be with me. I have a crazy Siamese who lives under my bed, and having to share his hiding place isn't doing his mental stability any good.

Serenity has not been to the vet (again, catching her and stuffing her into a crate is NOT going to be easy or fun or even possible on the first try), but her siblings tested negative for feline leukemia and feline aids. Her parents are healthy, and she has many healthy siblings. I've known Tiger and Mama Tiger for several years, and have met and helped place several of their children (including my own Sebastian and Serenity's littermate Sparrow).

Email me at lynxfeather at yahoo dot com. I live in Richardson (north of Dallas, south of Plano). I'm available for kitten visits after 7 on weeknights and after 1pm on weekends.
We ask a $30 donation to help cover expenses. We are just a small group of friends who do as much as we can, and sometimes it is overwhelming. In addition to kitten rescue and fostering, we feed and provide shelter for the local strays, and we are working to spay/neuter and release the area strays.
