tigerlily

March 15, 2005
Tigerlily is a 5 lb, 2 year old female tabby cat with orange/gold eyes that sometimes show a green ring around the pupil. Her coat is what I think of as ordinary tabby color, but there are streaks and splotches of dark orange all through it (I think she's related to Tiger and Tatters) and she has a beautiful face. She is such a small cat that I thought she was 4-5 months old! We think she was dumped -- and despite that, she is one of the friendliest, most loving lapcats I have ever met.
She is extremely people-oriented and gets on well with cats. My cats aren't very friendly to outsiders, but she romps up and down the stairs with Sebastian, my 7 month old Siamese foster. She will curl up on my lap with 2 other cats in the chair, and often shares the bed with anywhere from 1 to 3 cats.
The thing that makes Tigerlily stand out is how loving she is. She will jump on your lap and be purring when she lands. Right now, she's curled up on my lap with her butt on my arm, purring up a storm while I type this page. She loves to be cradled and petted, she loves to lay on my lap while I pet her, she loves love.
Special Needs
I took her to the vet on Tuesday, March 15. I'm giving her antibiotics and drops for the ear mites. Her digestion hasn't completely settled down, so she's still having diarrhea, but she uses the litter box every single time. (She was definitely indoors at some point.) I gave her a bath, and she lets me brush her -- she's a perfect civilized sweetheart. She will need to be spayed once we get her digestive system taken care of.
Her main need is to be in a home where she can be a lapcat. She loves being held, she loves being petted, and she will purr herself to sleep on your lap. She'll be perfectly fine with other cats, but her real love is for people.

Friday, March 4, 2005: rescue!
I saw Tigerlily for the first time on Friday night, when I heard Macavity having a fit on the back deck. I went to the door and found a thin tiny tabby cat eating Mac's food. I gave her some fresh food, and she attacked it, growling all the while. She let me pet her and after a while, I picked her up and brought her inside. I gave her a bath (she reeked of smoke), rubbed her with a towl, tucked her inside my flannel shirt, and settled down in my chair. She stayed in my shirt for hours, purring up a storm. I took the 3 pictures on the left of her in my shirt (please note that is a peach-colored cami top under the flannel shirt). I took her to bed that night and she stayed until I fell asleep.
Saturday, she let me clean her ears, and then we spent several hours curled up together. She purred like a fiend the whole time -- she is the sweetest cat. The picture on the right was taken that day.
Three friends came over Sunday, and she ended up in everyone's lap.

I was one of the first 50!
