the zeeba clan

May 30, 2006
The two girls and biggest boy have found homes. The two remaining black and white boys are quieter than their siblings, and make a very cute pair. I'll post more pictures in the next day or two.

One of my local teenagers found a litter of 5 kittens and brought them to me on May 16th. I don't know who their parents are or where they came from, so I rushed them to the vet to be checked for nasties. They are roughly 6 weeks old, and they tested negative for feline aids, leukemia, and worms. (A second test in a few weeks will confirm they are worm-free.)
There are 2 girls. Cleo is a tuxedo cat -- I've never actually met a tuxedo cat who was a girl. She's black with white toes, chin, and whiskers. Her face is black except for a fine white stripe down her nose. Artichoke (she hasn't grown into Cynara yet) is a ridiculously foofy gray & white girl with a worried little face, tufted ears, and a fat stumpy tail. She's insanely adorable, and spent Sunday afternoon asleep on the couch by my leg.

The 3 boys are all black and white, and I haven't quite deciphered their spot pattern. One of them has a black blotch on his nose, and two have black triangular blotches on their noses. One of the latter (the one with a wee black spot on his chin) is the brave explorer of the litter, so we named him Pounce de Leon. He was the first out of the crate. Friday night, after he got a bath, he stumped all over the living room, determined to go everywhere. He was also the first to try and get the older kittens to play with him. (It took a couple of days.)

They are still settling down, but they are already quite affectionate. They are completely unafraid of other cats, and have already started purring.
When this litter came to me, I already had a litter of 5 kittens, so I had to decide what to call the two litters. This one became the zeeba clan because when I asked myself, What is black and white that isn't a cow or a bird?, the answer was zeebas. (It also helps to know I'm a big fan of the Pearls Before Swine crockydiles who are always trying to keel the zeebas.)
If you would like to meet the zeeba clan
Email me at lynxfeather at yahoo dot com and we'll set up a time! I live in Richardson (north of Dallas, south of Plano). I'm available for kitten visits after 7 on weeknights and after 1pm on weekends. I'm taking Thursday-Monday off for Memorial Day weekend, so if you'd like to come over to meet the guys, drop me an email!
And as always, we do not expect an immediate decision. If you want to come and meet the kittens and go home and think about it, we have no problem with that at all. We want everyone to have a happy ending.
I can't update this site from work, so I only manage to update a couple times a week. If you need more cuteness to tide you over, visit the Village Witches Rescue Livejournal. I post lots of additional pictures there and update it more frequently.

I was one of the first 50!
